Coagulation
OverviewWhen a blood vessel is damaged a complex process called hemostasis is started to stop the bleeding and repair the blood vessel. An important part of this process is blood clotting or coagulation. The correct functioning of the coagulation system is also important for maintaining blood flow. Disorders of the coagulation system can result in the obstruction of blood vessels (thrombosis) or an increased risk of bleeding (e.g. in hemophilia). The blood coagulation diagnosis represents a very important part in the judgment of the status of patients before any surgery as well as the monitoring of long-term therapies with anti-coagulants e.g. in the case of heart disease, stroke and blood transfusion.
All instruments are compact stand-alone systems, which have been designed with a clear focus on being user friendly, reliable and cost effective.
