Urine Diagnostics / Urine Test Strips / CKD - chronic kidney disease

back to overview

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) refers to persistent, usually progressive damage to kidney function that lasts for at least three months and is often asymptomatic for a long time. Particularly in the early stages, those affected often do not notice any symptoms, which is why the disease is usually only recognised late. However, early diagnosis is crucial in order to slow down the progression of the disease and prevent secondary diseases.

Urine test strips play a key role in the early detection of CKD. They enable the simple and rapid detection of protein (albumin) or blood in the urine - both early signs of kidney damage. As screening is uncomplicated and inexpensive, regular use is particularly recommended for high-risk patients such as diabetics or people with high blood pressure.
