The pH test pad contains a mixed indicator, which gives a colour spectrum from orange to yellow to turquoise for the pH range 5-9. |
Source of error |
If the urine is left to stand too long, bacterial contamination can lead to false results (alkaline, pH > 7). Proteins do not have any influence. See also chapter "sources of error". |

The pH value of urine is influenced by a range of factors:
The pH value of fresh urine of healthy persons varies between pH 5 and 6. A persistent alkaline pH value indicates urinary tract infections. |
